LOGO DESIGN FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions

Below you can find out everything you need to know about my logo design service. I have separated everything into clear sections which should answer any questions you might have. However if you still can’t find what you need here then please do not hesitate to contact me.

Everyone has a budget, and price is often the deciding factor for many people so I have put this information right at the top.

If budget is your primary concern then you can find my logo design packages and pricing structure clearly laid out here.

It can be confusing as to which logo design package is right for you. After all how are you to know how long it will take for me to design the right logo for you? I understand this completely as it isn’t always easy for me to know which package you need until I have all the details either. So the best I can do without talking to you is to give you a rough guide as to what type of company is best suited to each package.

Take a moment to look at my logo design packages and pricing page which should help you decide which package is best suited to your project. Pay particular interest to the “Who is this for?” section under each package.

If you are still unsure please contact me.

Step 1 – The client fills in my logo design questionnaire.

This gives me a good foundation of information to work from.

Step 2 – Client Pays Deposit

I require a 50% deposit in order to schedule in your project and start work. This covers some of my initial work and is non-refundable.

Step 3 – Conceptualisation

I then start work creating concepts for your new logo. Once complete I send the initial designs for your consideration along with my detailed notes.

Step 4 – Feedback and Revisions

I then make revisions based on your feedback, expect some back and forth at this stage.

Step 5 – Deliver

Once the final logo design is approved, the client pays the due balance and I deliver the final artwork files and the transfer of Copyright form.

Standard Package

5 concepts and unlimited* revisions to your chosen concept (within reason).

Premium Package

10 concepts and unlimited* revisions to your chosen concept (within reason).

Masterwork Package

50 concepts produced in batches of 10 with a round of feedback after each. Unlimited* revisions to your chosen concept (within reason).

As well as the above you will also receive my detailed design notes which are sent with every batch of concepts.

*Subject to a fair usage policy “Unlimited Revisions” as long as it remains within what is considered a reasonable amount of changes within a specific packages budget. I am pretty flexible, but just in case.

Standard Packages

Initial designs are usually received within 14 working days from the receipt of your completed logo design questionnaire and your deposit.

Premium Packages

Initial designs are usually received within 14 working days from the receipt of your completed logo design questionnaire and your deposit.

Masterwork Projects

For Masterwork Projects please expect a timeframe of around 3-4 weeks for the first batch of 10 concepts to be delivered. You should plan for a Masterwork project to run for about 3-4 months in total.

*Please note that exact project times for all packages can vary depending on my current workload at the time.

I try to offer logo packages to accommodate all budgets however the amount of work that is required to research, conceptualise and create a really great logo is unfortunately underestimated by some people.

I do not even try and compete with the “4 designs for £50.00″ fly-by-night logo design companies. To me they represent logo design in the loosest sense of the word.

What I bring to the table is over 25 years of experience as a professional designer and crucially this is what you are paying for.

My expertise, skill, insight and experience in creating inspirational design, are assets that can only be earned by serving many years as a professional creative and as a result my prices reflect that.

That said – if you on a tight budget you could always check out my pre-made logos currently for sale – prices start from as low as £100.00 – and you may find the perfect logo already waiting for you.

I ask for a 50% non-refundable deposit (which is payable by Cash, PayPal or Bank Transfer) before starting work on your project.

The remaining 50% is payable upon completion before I send the final artwork files.

Deposits are non-refundable because logo projects (in terms of workload) are mostly front-loaded.

All of the research and idea generation is performed at the start, couple that with the time spent working up the concepts to present to you and writing design notes and you soon see why.

The deposit goes some way towards covering the sheer amount of my time that is invested from the outset.

Firstly, this is a very rare occurrence.

Sometimes I will get the design perfect first time, however sometimes it can take a number of rounds of feedback and revisions before we have a final design.

I always aim to ensure that my clients are very happy at the end of the project and that I have worked to the highest standards possible within the confines of the timescales, brief and of course the budget.

But, the cold hard facts are:

  1. Deposits are non-refundable.

  2. Until a project is paid for in full then the Copyright to any and all ideas I conceive or concepts and designs that I create remain my Full Copyright.

However, as long as we maintain good communication throughout the project and a proper brief is given at the start, then there is no reason that any problems should arise.

If you are in any way unsure, I would always advise that prospective clients look at a designers portfolio before hiring them.

If you like what a designer has created previously then there is a good chance that you will like what they produce for you.

It is also a good idea to look at a designers reviews or testimonials from previous clients.

You can also have an informal chat or ask the designer questions about your project before going ahead.

I am very easy going, approachable and patient so if you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Brand is (in short) how the image of a business is perceived emotionally as a whole.

Identity is the term used when referring to the visual components that form a part of the brand overall.

A logo is a mark or icon that represents or identifies a business in its simplest form.

Whilst I can’t promise you (and neither should any other designer) is that I can create for you a successful ‘brand’.

Creation of a successful brand cannot be promised by anyone!

Brand success is determined by many contributing factors including successful marketing, consumer adoption, brand affinity and much, much more.

Brand success is not just about having a great logo.

What I can promise you, however, is that I will put all my creativity to work for you and pour my heart and soul into researching, conceptualising and designing for you a successful logo and/or identity.

All I ask in return, is that you make the correct level of investment in-line with your aspirations.

In short, as soon as possible.

My schedule is quite frequently booked out 1-2 months in advance throughout the year. There are times of course where you may drop lucky and I can begin work on a new project almost straight away, however, that happens less and less often these days.

So, if you are considering hiring me then please do get in touch as soon as possible to ascertain when I will be available to undertake your project.

If you are considering one of my Masterwork Project slots then please be aware that there are a limited number of these available each year and that you should plan for a Masterwork project to run for 3-4 months in total.

That depends entirely on my current workload at the time. These days I am finding that I am often fully booked out with projects up to 1-2 months in advance.

That said, you may drop lucky and I might be able to begin work almost immediately, so it is best to get in touch (via email) to ascertain when I would be able to undertake your project.

Just like hiring me for any other project, firstly, you would simply email me to enquire about my current availability and let me know a little bit about your project.

The number of these special limited edition projects that I undertake each year is determined by my existing workload and the attraction of the project.

Masterwork projects are very special to me, I want them to be examples of only my very best work. As such, they require a lot of my time, so I am very selective in the number of them that I undertake each year.

In addition, Masterwork Projects are not just about the money for me, they are about producing something exquisite, something that I will enjoy working on and reserved only for projects where I see great potential.

If a project interests me, the client is keen to work with me and they have both the budget and the timeframe to allow me to create my best work, then that would likely be a project that would  qualify for a coveted Masterwork slot.
