The Challenge: A Minimalist Emblem with a "WOW" Factor
The client required a simple and minimalist SG monogram that still had a significant “wow” factor. A critical constraint was that the final design had to be versatile enough for high-quality embroidery on clothing while also looking sharp in all digital and print media.
A secondary, but important, request was to incorporate a subtle nod to the brand’s African heritage. The challenge was to weave this element into the sg logo design without compromising the clean, modern aesthetic.
The Rationale Behind This SG Logo Design
The design process began by exploring ways to merge the ‘S’ and ‘G’ initials into a single, cohesive shield emblem.

The solution was found by deconstructing the letterforms into a continuous, snaking line that forms both letters within the strong silhouette of a shield. To incorporate the client’s heritage, I researched the rich history of African tribal symbols, which inspired the final fluid and interconnected style of the lettering. This conceptual depth provides a layer of storytelling to the brand, elevating it beyond a simple monogram.
