The Challenge:

This wolf logo design was created for Alpha Lift Wear in 2015. The client required a simple yet eye catching wolf head logo emblem.

I was given relative creative freedom during the design process, the one stipulation was that a scar must run across one eye on the wolf’s face.

My Thoughts:

I created a wide variety of concepts for the wolf head including different poses and expressions.

After a few rounds of small revisions we arrived at this final design.

Fitness Club Logo Design

Hey, my name is Martin Williams and I created this Fitness Club Logo Design. I am a veteran logo designer with over 25 years professional experience. Below you will find an example of my work, more can be found in my portfolios, thank you.

The Challenge:

This custom logo design was created for Gymheadz in 2015. The client requested a text and motif combination where the motif could also work as a standalone element.

For this reason it was important that the motif have relevance and a strong relationship to the brand name.

My Thoughts:

To help tie the motif to the brand name I explored several concepts, there were a few designs where I tried to combine a head and gym related graphic elements into the logo but it just wasn’t working.

The concepts felt overly complex and so I moved on to exploring ways that I could incorporate the brand initials GH and into the motif alongside a gym theme.

That is when I struck upon the idea of using the G and H to form the dumbbell shape.

I am usually very much against using too obvious iconography (such as using dumbbells for a gym brand) but I felt that this concept was unique enough to carry it off.

We arrived at this simple, clean, modern concept, and the client loved it.

Supreme Queen – Band Logo Design

Hey, my name is Martin Williams and I created this Band Logo Design. I am a veteran logo designer with over 25 years professional experience. Below you will find an example of my work, more can be found in my portfolios, thank you.

The Challenge:

Scott Maley (Probably the best Freddie Mercury Tribute in the world if you ask me!) from the awesome Queen Tribute Band Supreme Queen contacted me when they were re-branding the band and asked me to come up with a new band logo design.

The challenge was to create a concept that was representative of Queens golden era and had that unique 70’s or 80’s feel to it.

We also had several design constraints as a lot of the original bands iconography is copyrighted. So we had to create a design that oozed Queen without infringing on any of the original bands artwork, tricky.

My Thoughts:

I absolutely loved working on this logo, I think it was because it was just so different from anything else I had worked on for a while.

I got to immerse myself in the 70’s and 80’s, surround myself with Queen music and artwork to fully adsorb the look and feel of the era.

One thing I was really conscious of was that although a lot of the artwork from the 70’s and 80’s is bright, brash and gaudy. I wanted to stay as far away from ‘tacky’ as possible.

It was also important to me that the design worked both in both monotone and in full colour.

Since the successful completion of the logo, I have gone on to create a lots of other artwork for the band including drum skins, poster designs, keyboard covers, stage back drops and more.

Eaglewear – Apparel Logo Design

Hey, my name is Martin Williams and I created this Apparel Logo Design. I am a veteran logo designer with over 25 years professional experience. Below you will find an example of my work, more can be found in my portfolios, thank you.

The Challenge:

Eaglewear are a fitness and sports apparel brand based in the UK.

They requested that I come up with a minimalist concept for their fitness apparel logo design, something representative of an eagle but not a literal visual representation of an eagle.

They wanted it to be very simple indeed and concepts don’t come much simpler or minimal than the final solution here.

My Thoughts:

During our initial meeting we discussed concepts based around using a minimal representation of a wing or a beak as the motif.

As it turned out the final motif above was based on a simple sketch I made during that very first meeting on a napkin in the coffee shop.

Don’t get me wrong, we still explored several other options throughout the project. After all it is vital that all avenues are thoughtfully explored and a proper design process is followed to ensure the best possible final solution.

However sometimes, not very often, but sometimes, your gut instinct and very first simple concepts are the best and that proved to be the case here.

Body Vision – Fitness Logo Design

Hey, my name is Martin Williams and I created this Fitness Logo Design. I am a veteran logo designer with over 25 years professional experience. Below you will find an example of my work, more can be found in my portfolios, thank you.

The Challenge:

Body Vision are a fitness brand. The client required logo created to represent the brand.

The client did not have any preconceived ideas or concepts before contacting me, the only real provision they had was that they wanted to keep away from any clichéd or overused visual representations often seen in gym and fitness brands.

They just knew that they wanted a clean, modern logo.

My Thoughts:

As the client did not want the logo to feature any iconography such as fitness equipment or running figures etc.

I concentrated my logo concept exploration around simple, visually appealing motifs with a fitness/sports vibe. Many of the motifs I created were comprised of combining the initials of the brand “B” and “V” in unique and interesting ways.

Although this design looks simple, it was actually quite hard to conceive, as the two letter forms “B” and “V” are not very complimentary (one being very geometric and the other more rounded by default).

Putting them together in a cohesive way was a difficult task. To achieve this I has to make the “B” element lowercase and rotate it 90 degrees clockwise to fit it into the “V” shape, this formed the overall emblem. In addition to this I also had to make the “b” more geometric in nature.

When the client saw an early version of this concept they were certain that was the design for them.

Business Logo Design for Chapter Training

Hey, my name is Martin Williams and I created this Business Logo Design. I am a veteran logo designer with over 25 years professional experience. Below you will find an example of my work, more can be found in my portfolios, thank you.

The Challenge:

Chapter are a training company specialising in project management training courses. The client required a professional logo design created to represent the business.

The client wasn’t sure if they wanted a purely typographical logo (what we call a logotype) or a logo design with separate typographical and motif elements, so I created several different concepts for them.

My Thoughts:

We finally settled on this typographical design which incorporates a very simple yet clever theme. I was looking for a simple way to relate the type to the name “Chapter”.

The meaning behind the brand name “Chapter” was that their training allows you to move on to the next chapter of your career.

So I started to think about where else chapters appear and how we use the word, such as chapters of our lives and chapters in a book.

From there I thought about how we mark these chapters and this lead me to thinking about bookmarks and how we use a bookmark when reading a book to mark which chapter we are currently reading.

I arrived at the simple concept of editing the bottom of the “P” letter form within the logo to look like the bottom of a bookmark as it looks when sticking out of the bottom of a book.

I had several other ideas besides this concept, but this simple elegant solution was the one that the client selected in the end.

Hey, my name is Martin Williams and I create the best fitness logo design, including the world famous GYMSHARK logo. I am a veteran logo designer with over 25 years professional experience. Below you will find an example of my work, more can be found in my portfolios, thank you.

The Challenge:

GYMSEVEN required a logo design for there gym-wear apparel brand. The client requested a simple, modern and clean logo to be designed.

I knew early on, after some preliminary sketching, that I wanted to combine the G and the number 7 into an emblem for the logo. G7 was a great abbreviation of the brand name and it just felt right.

My Thoughts:

During my concept sketching I figured out how I could use the number 7 to form the bottom of the G and that was my main focus then moving forward.

I tried many variations and refined the concept several times until I settled on this very minimal, sharp and modern emblem. I also experimented with a lot of colour combinations and took my time to ensure that I selected the perfect typeface to compliment the motif.

The Challenge:

FITVO required a logo designed for there new sports apparel brand. The brief called for a clean, modern logo to be designed.

There was no specific theme for the brand other than fitness, so I opted to research classic sports and fitness brands in order to create a concept that would encapsulate all of the best design principles of the great brands.

My Thoughts:

My main aim was to create something that obviously had a sporty vibe, something that would look at home on all kinds of sportswear such as running shoes, apparel and equipment.

My second goal was to create a design that was dynamic and conveyed movement. I chose to base the motif on the word FIT, I then sketched a lot of concepts stylising the word FIT into an emblem.

What I love about this design is the timeless, iconic feel it exudes.

The Challenge:

Doug and Bone offer a range of beautiful dog fashion clothing and accessories for dog lovers. I was excited when the client approached me to design the logo to head up the brand because I had never worked on a logo for a company in this kind of industry before.

The client was, of course, keen to incorporate both a dog element (Doug being the dog) and a bone into the design.

So, the challenge was going to be in combining those complex elements within a simple, clean design that was cohesive with a fashion brand.

My Thoughts:

Because of the complex elements (the dog and bone) which needed to be incorporated, my idea was to keep the rest of the design very simple.

I choose a very modern and uncomplicated typeface which would encapsulate the more complex elements. I then modified the negative space of the company initials (D&B) to represent the two elements.

The Challenge:

Crown Associates are Independent Investment Managers based in Switzerland. They required a professional logo design creating to spearhead the companies identity.

Investment management is a highly professional and competitive sector where the professionalism of the company must be communicated to the highest standards.

My Thoughts:

My idea was to create a highly professional logo design which effectively communicated an increasing investment.

I used arrows to form the top of the crown icon.

I then combined the modern motif with a more traditional typeface for the the ‘CROWN’ lettering to communicate an established feel for the company.

The more modern and simple typeface for ‘ASSOCIATES’ was selected to establish a link between the lettering and motif and also to communicate the balance between the traditional values and modern forward thinking ethos of the business.
