Case Study: Disruptive Logo Design for Dirty L*ttle Social
Standing out in the crowded B2B marketing space requires a brand identity that isn’t afraid to take risks.
Dirty L*ttle Social, a bespoke social media management agency based in Singapore, approached me for a new logo that reflected their unique positioning.
Specialising in short-form video content for platforms like Instagram and TikTok, their approach is highly secretive—they create viral content for brands without anyone knowing an agency was involved. They needed a logo that captured this “best-kept secret” vibe while remaining highly competent and professional.
The Challenge:
The brief presented an interesting dichotomy: the agency’s tone is intentionally cheeky, playful, and slightly subversive, yet they are a B2B service that needs to communicate absolute competence and trust.
The client specifically requested the inclusion of an asterisk in “L*ttle” as a non-negotiable element, and suggested exploring a “graffiti” style or something akin to Victoria’s Secret to capture their secretive, slightly edgy nature.
The primary challenge was balancing this disruptive attitude so it appealed to corporate clients looking for aggressive social media growth without looking amateurish.
The Design Rationale:
Typography & Structure
To strike the right balance between “cheeky” and “competent,” we moved away from literal graffiti styles—which can sometimes feel unpolished in a B2B context—and instead focused on a bold, distressed typographic approach.
The Asterisk: The requested asterisk in “L*TTLE” was integrated seamlessly into the heavy sans-serif font.
The Speech Bubble: To firmly root the logo in the communication and social media space, the word “SOCIAL” is housed within a stylized, solid speech bubble.
The Layout: The stacked arrangement creates a compact, badge-like emblem. The slight upward tilt of the text adds a dynamic, energetic feel, mirroring the fast-paced nature of short-form video content creation.
Colour Palette The client expressed an interest in exploring purple. We selected a rich, vibrant purple as the primary brand colour. Purple historically carries connotations of mystery and secrecy—perfectly aligning with their positioning as the “best-kept secret in the industry”—while also feeling modern and energetic against the stark black and white typographic elements.
Practical Application Because the agency operates almost entirely in the digital realm, the logo was designed primarily for screen use—specifically for their website and social media profiles. The distressed texture on the lettering adds character at larger sizes, while the heavy weight of the font ensures the name remains legible even when scaled down to a tiny social media avatar.
The Outcome
The final logo successfully captures the essence of the Dirty L*ttle Social brand. It is bold, slightly abrasive, and highly memorable. It gives the agency a distinct, disruptive visual identity that sets them apart from more traditional, corporate competitors in the Singapore market, perfectly framing their highly specialized, covert approach to social media management.
